Scholars Programs

Within these programs, students define their future through innovative approaches to study. These competitive programs combine financial awards with special opportunities for advanced research, unique seminars, directed internships, study abroad and more. Scholarships range from $5,000 to $22,000 per year.

For incoming freshmen:

Applying to a scholars program will require that you have your UMBC Campus ID. Your Campus ID will be sent approximately five to seven business days after you have submitted your Common Application to UMBC. We strongly encourage you to complete your undergraduate admissions package before November 1. This includes submission of your Common Application, high school transcript, and standardized test score results.

The Center for Women In Technology Scholars Program, also known as CWIT, is open to a community of learners interested in pursuing careers among the technology, engineering and information technology fields. Priority Deadline: January 15

UMBC’s Cyber Scholars Program is geared towards preparing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals in an increasingly digital age. The program was launched through a generous grant from the Northrop Grumman Foundation and in partnership with the Center for Women in Technology (CWIT).

The Meyerhoff Scholars Program is at the forefront of efforts to increase diversity among future leaders in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and related fields.

UMBC’s Sherman STEM Teacher Scholars Program supports and prepares high-quality teachers in STEM fields to teach in urban, high-needs schools. Scholars in early childhood and elementary education prepare to be experts in teaching and integrating STEM subject areas, while secondary candidates become experts in teaching a STEM discipline.
