We want to help you achieve your academic goals. Here are some useful resources to help you succeed.
Academic Support
Academic Success Center
Academic Success Center (ASC) is dedicated to helping students reach their potential with a UMBC degree. The ASC provides centralized support services to all undergraduate students at UMBC. Through a coordinated approach and an unwavering commitment to student success, the Academic Success Center fosters a welcoming environment that provides a one-stop opportunity through Academic Policy, Academic Learning Resources, and Academic Advocacy for students to achieve their academic goals and claim their future with a UMBC degree.
Accommodations for Accessibility and Disability
The Office of Accessibility and Disability Services provides resources to students with disabilities, as well as those with temporarily disabling conditions and injuries, that may require accommodations in order to have equal access and full participation in all of UMBC’s programs, services and activities.
Students who wish to use accommodations must register with the Office of Accessibility and Disability Services.
Academic Advising
The Office for Academic and Pre-Professional Advising coordinates advising for all UMBC undergraduate students and provides advising for undeclared majors and allied health concentrations.
Advising Resources for STEM Undergraduate Students:
Career Center
The Career Center aims to empower all students and graduates to create their own success stories. We work with students at every academic level, from first-year freshmen to graduate students. Our services include career advising and counseling, networking events, on-campus & virtual recruiting, interviews, career and professional skills education, and applied learning opportunities (internships, co-ops, and research).
Supplemental Instruction Peer Assisted Study Sessions (SI PASS)
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic support model that utilizes Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS). The SI PASS program supports traditionally difficult academic courses by providing SI PASS sessions. SI PASS sessions are regularly-scheduled, informal review sessions in which students compare notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools, and predict test items. Students learn how to integrate course content and study skills while working together.
View the SI Pass schedule here.
Tutoring
Tutoring is an appointment you make with yourself to study and practice at least once a week. Students who go to tutoring tell us that they better understand course concepts and are able to apply new techniques they learn in tutoring later on their own. To make the most of your tutoring session, prepare by bringing concepts and problems you would like to practice with your tutor.
Health & Wellness
Mental Health Services
Mind Spa
The Mind Spa is a space curated to help you relax, improve concentration and memory, and be a successful student. Practicing mindfulness and meditation can have important physical and mental health benefits such as increased concentration, awareness, and regulation of emotions. Studies show that these practices have positive short- and long-term effects on the brain. You might begin to notice benefits from your participation at the Mind Spa immediately or after a few uses.

We prioritize critical social justice as our community value, with a deliberate focus on women, gender, anti-racism, and feminism. All are welcome as long as they respect women. Their experiences. Their stories. Their potential.
